HOLISTIC HEALTH TIP
Eating seasonal foods is something people have done for centuries. Seasonal eating means seeking out foods that are naturally in season in your area and building meals with the seasonal foods you decide on.
In season foods offer outstanding benefits to both your overall wellbeing as well as your taste buds. When you choose seasonal produce, you’re getting the freshest and the most full-flavored because that produce is thriving and growing in abundance.
The benefits of eating for each season are often aligned with what your body intuitively yearns for. You may notice as the seasons change you start to gravitate toward certain foods. I know in the fall and winter I start leaning more toward healthy fats, soups, stews and complex carbohydrates.
Remember, it’s not about switching up your entire food routine, unless of course you feel called to do so! The idea is to make your life easier and make healthy choices. You can add in bits of seasonal eating with your typical grocery shopping habits to find a happy balance.
I’m a huge fan of apples… I buy them all year round!
